SPAX - RE: Advice on suspension From: Alastair Young[SMTP:ayoung@ndirect.co.uk] Sent: Thursday, August 06, 1998 7:36 AM To: CRX@crx.org Subject: CRX: RE: Advice on suspension........ > I am about to do the same thing but I can't decide between the Jamex and the > Koni/Eibach combination. You could replace the bump stops but that is it really . If you find that the Koni/Eibach combination is too expensive check out the Spax kits as they are cheaper than the Koni/Ebachs but slightly more expensive than the Jamex kit but they are also adjustable . RE: Shock/strut options From: David Bilenkey [bilenkey@nortelnetworks.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 17, 1999 8:50 AM To: crx mailing list Subject: CRX: RE: Shock/strut options Just a note to the list. Thanks for the info, and I thought I'd provide a quick update. The stock Honda OEM units were going to be $155 CDN each, so that established my baseline cost for comparison purposes. Tokico Blues: prices ranged from ~$110-$155 CDN each (1 yr warranty?) KYB GR-2's: prices ranged from ~$110-$160 CDN each (lifetime warranty) KYB AGX's: prices ranged from ~$165-$225 CDN each (lifetime warranty) Koni Sport's: were about $250 CDN each (I think those were lifetime warranty as well) Monroe Sensatrac: $133 CDN each (lifetime warranty) and cheaper installation (at a tire place) So I think I'm going to spring for the KYB AGX fully adjustables. At only $10 more than the stock Honda units and lifetime warranty. The Tokico Blues would have been cheaper but I was surprised to hear they only had a 1 yr warranty. Remember I intend to keep the rex a long time! So I'll order these units in the next couple of days unless somebody tells me a good reason not to. ;-) Thanks again, David

Monroe From: Eric L. Stewart[SMTP:mcstewart@msn.com] Sent: Sunday, May 10, 1998 9:00 PM To: Trevin Chow; crx@crx.org Subject: RE: Struts, shocks, and springs Check out http://www.monroe.com This is Monroe's website. They've got a great interactive guide called "the Ride Control University" which gives out some great, easily understood basic info on struts and shocks, etc. Did you know, for example, that we don't have struts on the front of our 2nd gen. CRX's? A true (McPherson) strut handles structural support for the suspension, and supports the vehicle's weight as well as performing its damping chores. The 2nd gens have an upper "A" arm whose ball joint accepts the pivot for the steering mechanism. Can you say "double wishbones"? :-) BTW, I've got Monroe GasMatics for my beast. They're approximately OEM for damping characteristics (OK by me) but they have the added advantage of being gas shocks + they have a lifetime replacement warranty. Eric
