I agree. When set on 4 or 5, Illuminas are _very_ stiff, both coming
and going. Highly useful for Stock class autocross. Major changes to
handling, and legal. Only detrimental if the course if very bumpy.

RE: Group Buy - Tokico From: Landry, Barry[SMTP:BLandry@fundy.ca] Reply To: Landry, Barry Sent: Wednesday, September 02, 1998 2:43 PM To: 'crx@crx.org' Subject: RE: Group Buy - Tokico (blues) > Date: Wed, 2 Sep 1998 11:00:32 EDT > From: ZapcoInWI@aol.com > Subject: Re: Re: CRX: Group Buy - Tokico > > I've got mine on my car with Eibach Sportlines. Together, they make a > great- > handling combination (Barry, you out there?). [Landry, Barry] Yup here I am - the blues and Eibach's are a great combo. My car rides more solidly than my dad's Acura Vigor did when it was brand new. Ride is very well damped, but quite a bit stiffer than stock. Cornering forces are high enough now though that the stock seats are a bit less than I'd like when it comes to holding you firmly in place. And Henry "OneTimeCRX" added: > and am still using the stock springs. [Landry, Barry] Exactly how I'd describe it...and yes they do raise your ride height by an inch or so. Adding the Eibach's actually IMPROVED my ride comfort on smaller bumps (expansion joints, minor bumps, etc.). One thing about the Blues though - they are fairly temperature sensitive in the cold of winter (being gas charged that makes sense I suppose), and the ride got pretty damn harsh the first winter I had them on the car (before the car got to take annual winter sleeps). And this is a CDN winter, meaning single digits in degrees F (minus 30's C) for a few months.

Tokico Premiums From: Ryan Smith [smithr@bobcat.ent.ohiou.edu] Sent: Monday, November 02, 1998 1:57 PM To: crx@crx.org Subject: CRX: Springs - thanks Hey, Just wanted to say thanks to all that replied to my questions about springs and struts. I decided to go with Tokico Premiums and Eibach Sportlines. It was a big decision to make between the Sportlines and the ProKits. I didn't want to go too low, but I did want some difference. To estimate the drop I'd experience from current, I measured the height of my car (about 48.5 - 49 inches) and compared that to the stock height stated in the manual, 50.1 inches. (Anyone have stock ride height data? This was nowhere to be found.) Thus, barring any likely measurement error or improperly inflated tires, my car has sunk about 1 inch from stock just because it's old. Therefore, the ProKits would most likely cause no net effect (other than improved handling), while the Sportlines will probably sink it another .5-.7 inches. It's quite possibly the most daring thing I've done in my life, but I think I'll be safe. :) Still, I'll be scared until I get them on. There was really no question about the struts - I couldn't afford the adjustables so what else was there? It was a tough choice between Eibach and Neuspeed. I really wanted Neuspeed because they seemed reputable enough and people seemed to like them (and they were cheaper!), but the SofSports lowered less than the ProKits and the Sports lowered more than the Sportlines. Some of you may disagree with this, but conversations with the shop I ordered them from concluded this. So, I went for the middle ground. There was one enthusiastic response praising Jamex products that made me consider them seriously until I got an equally enthusiastic response trashing Jamex products. I don't have the resources to take chances with what may or may not be a good product. (They did have an unbeatable price, though - wait - so did my PaceSetter exhaust...) Anyways, I ordered them from Lightning Motorsports, whom I swear I heard of before here on the list (I hope it was something good I heard). They've got a pretty nice paage at www.LightningMotorsports.com. The guy I talked to was very helpful and polite, not to mention patient while I made up my mind what springs to buy. Try getting that at NOPI. $477 + $20 s/h. It'll be here thursday, maybe. Now, where do you suggest I have them installed? Would somewhere like Munro or Tuffy be ok? I had Munro install my exhaust - they seemed to do a good job. Is there anything about the installation that I should be concerned about or is it pretty much a simple, cut and dry procedure? Also, just how much do you think it'll cost? Well, thanks gang. Sorry for the long post, but you deserve it after all the help you've been.
