We joined a group of "youth" that were already bunked at Westminster. These "kids" were members of a program called
AmeriCorps.
This is a national service program for people ages 18-24 who sign up to live in sparse conditions,
making less then $2 a day, doing what ever community service they have been ask to do.
They sign up for 10 to 12 months and at the end they also receive a some assistance towards a college education.
These guys and girls were not only energetic and enthusiastic but they were extremely bright, courteous and terribly patient while
explaining things like "How to un-jam an airgun" to a bunch of us old guys. It was explained that not all the AmeriCorps kids were this great
but if they are even half as good as the crew we worked with then I think we're in good hands.
If any of these kids' parents are reading this I want you to know you should be
proud of them.
I hope that when my little girls grow up that they will show this kind of character.
These photos were taken by various members of the group.
As always, if you see any names or info that need correcting OR you wish to add some comments to a photo PLEASE email me.
I am also hoping to get some pictures from members of our group that volunteered at
Katrina's Kitchen.
